Hand-Layup
The hand layup method of composites production is the conventional method in which an operator lays up the fiberglass reinforcements and uses a tool to impregnate the resin into it. Usually, resin for lamination is taken in a bucket and a brush is used to apply it onto the fiberglass layers, hence this technique is also called ‘brush and bucket’ method. Along with brushes other tools like lambs wool rollers, metal corner rollers and paddle rollers are used for better lamination.
Hand layup process requires only a single open mould where the Gelcoat layers are applied first and then the fiberglass layers are laid and wetted with resin.
